About Cortopus

Hiring is a conversation.
It deserves one place.

Today it's spread across career pages, inboxes, calendars and chat apps. We're building Cortopus to gather it into one application that candidates and hiring teams share.

Why Cortopus exists

Both sides of hiring are waiting on each other.

A candidate applies and hears nothing for a week. A recruiter keeps the whole process together by hand. Neither is doing anything wrong. They just don't share a place to work.

  • Hiring is scattered

Applications on a career page, replies in an inbox, times in a calendar, files in a chat. Nobody has the whole picture, least of all the person waiting on it.

  • Candidates are left in silence

You apply, and then nothing. Was it received? Is the role still open? Do you wait, or move on? The not knowing is the hardest part of a job search.

  • Teams are buried in coordination

Chasing times, forwarding CVs, answering “any update?” and copying notes between tools. The time meant for people goes to the paperwork around them.

So we built the place. A single application, with its stages, interviews, assignments, messages and decision, that both sides see from their own side, the moment anything changes.

The Cortopus octopus

Made for connection.

The name

An octopus holds a lot.
And drops none of it.

Cortopus is named for the octopus: one mind, eight arms, each able to hold something. In hiring, those arms are the pieces that usually live in eight different places.

  • Applications
  • Stages
  • Interviews
  • Assignments
  • Messages
  • Scorecards
  • Decisions
  • Reply targets

Each one sits on the same application, so when one arm moves, the others know. That's the whole idea, and the reason for the tagline: made for connection.

What we hold to

Six principles,
written into the product.

They aren't slogans on a wall. Each one shows up as something Cortopus does, or refuses to do.

  • Every candidate hears back

Each stage of a job can carry a reply target. The candidate sees the date, the team is reminded before it passes, and a no always arrives with a message.

  • Each side stays private

Your notes, to-dos and CV labels never reach a company. A team's notes never reach a candidate.

  • Decisions with real reasons

A rejection names reasons from the company's own list, and the candidate can be told them. Feedback stays independent: scorecards stay sealed until each interviewer adds their own.

  • Measures you can explain

Response rate, reply time, replies on time against your own targets. Numbers a team can read out loud to a candidate without squirming.

  • Never an automatic verdict on a person

Cortopus never blocks or judges people automatically. When a team blocks someone, a person does it, with a reason, and it can be reversed.

  • Honest about where we are

Cortopus is in development. We say what works today and what comes next, and we don't promise what isn't there yet.

How we build

With the people who hire,
and the people who get hired.

Cortopus is in development, and early access is open. We'd rather build it next to the people who use it every day than guess from a distance.

  • Create an account todayCandidates and hiring teams can both sign up now. It's free for candidates.
  • Tell us how you really hireThe best ideas come from the people living the process. Early access is where they get heard.
  • Watch it changeWhat we build next is shaped by what early teams and candidates tell us.
